More About This Website

This blog follows our travels to and throughout Mexico. We finished our final school year in June, 2007 and retired.   July through October we lived in our Bigfoot Camper or on our Capri 26 sailboat full mOOn on Camanche Lake. We departed Northern California on November 7th, 2007 after the much anticipated wedding of our son, Micah and his fabulous lady, Kim.  Ken, Kris, and Duffie, the Wonder Westie, have travelled extensively in our Bigfoot Camper which is equipped with satellite internet which allows us to maintain this blog on a regular (or semi-regular) basis.  Bookmark this site and share in our adventure.

Here's Duffie

by Kris

Duffie is our West Highland White (sometimes more than others) Terrier. He adopted us when he was 3 months old and we've been a happy family for nine years. Duffie didn't read the part of the Westie book that says he's not a lap dog - he's not met a lap he couldn't conquer on the first attempt. There are many canine attributes that secure a dog's place in your heart and this sturdy little fellow has more than his share. If I were to single out a few that make him our favorite furry travel companion, one would surely be his 20lb size - a plus in our Bigfoot camper; another would be his self-cleaning ability -- he can be happily filthy and after a brief time-out in his bed, reappear white and fluffy. I have no answer for it - he has no explanation. Without a doubt the most endearing of his on-the-road traits is his habit of sleeping late.

mmmmmm this bed feels great...

Ken gets up and makes coffee; I get up when handed a mug of the brew, and we enjoy the quiet of the morning while Duffie snoozes. It's an instant transformation from slumber hound to energetic terrier at the magic question, "want to go outside?"

In many ways, adventuring with a pet is akin to travelling with a child -- caring for his needs is satisfying, seeing his excitement and sharing his un-conditional enjoyment of new experiences is gratifying.
Duffie will be ready to hit the road the moment we tell him to get his leash and we'll be happier for his company.
