More About This Website

This blog follows our travels to and throughout Mexico. We finished our final school year in June, 2007 and retired.   July through October we lived in our Bigfoot Camper or on our Capri 26 sailboat full mOOn on Camanche Lake. We departed Northern California on November 7th, 2007 after the much anticipated wedding of our son, Micah and his fabulous lady, Kim.  Ken, Kris, and Duffie, the Wonder Westie, have travelled extensively in our Bigfoot Camper which is equipped with satellite internet which allows us to maintain this blog on a regular (or semi-regular) basis.  Bookmark this site and share in our adventure.

Goodbye Christmas

 by Kris

Christmas Day is quiet in our home. The activities of Christmas Eve with the family are replaced with late brunch and movies or books, a minor attempt to restore the house to pre grand-kids status, and a snooze or two. By the 27th, my energy is restored and boxes re-appear for decorations. This isn't a big deal since we've no tree to dismantle - our Sago Palm was too wet from rains to assume its annual position indoors, and our homey holiday display is minimal at best. Ok, since the kids moved out holiday decorating is not as much fun and I'm lazy to boot.

As I pack the decorations, I wonder where we'll be next year. We're leaving here in July and returning in early November for our son's wedding. Not knowing where we'll be in Mexico at that time; if we'll be RV'ing or perhaps renting, makes Christmas a mystery event at this point. That's part of the fun and anticipation of our retirement. We have no itinerary other than being in Mexico and no time to be any particular place there. Thinking about it makes a small chore like putting away the stuff of Christmas more pleasurable and more a part of the big picture of preparing for our departure. Every day I look at household items and categorize them into "taking, storing, selling, giving away, or tossing" items and these Christmas decorations are no exception. This could be good and revolutionary in our lives as semi-pack rats.

Oh my God, does this include the garage?
