More About This Website

This blog follows our travels to and throughout Mexico. We finished our final school year in June, 2007 and retired.   July through October we lived in our Bigfoot Camper or on our Capri 26 sailboat full mOOn on Camanche Lake. We departed Northern California on November 7th, 2007 after the much anticipated wedding of our son, Micah and his fabulous lady, Kim.  Ken, Kris, and Duffie, the Wonder Westie, have travelled extensively in our Bigfoot Camper which is equipped with satellite internet which allows us to maintain this blog on a regular (or semi-regular) basis.  Bookmark this site and share in our adventure.

Bloggers

by Kris

I've discovered a very enjoyable blog http://www.mexico-with-heart.com/blog about travel and retirement in Mexico. The woman who writes and her husband traveled in Mexico at different times and have returned to live in an area, Lake Chapala near Guadalajara, we're interested in visiting. Another blog we've followed tells the adventures of Tioga and George -- http://vagabonders-supreme.net/blog/blog.html -- as they've boondocked all over the western states and the Baja. My favorite blog was that of the Underaged RV'ers, a young Colorado couple in a truck camper whose pictures and stories of coastal Mexico and Sayulita, in particular, lured us to that area for six weeks in the summer of 2005.

We contacted both George and the Underaged RV'ers prior to our trip and corresponded about equipment, provisioning, routes, and must-see suggestions. Building on others' experiences eliminates some of the potential problems or worries and enhances our optimistic adventuring. It's so exciting to have other travel/retirement blogs at our keyboarding fingertips.  Blogging is, after all, a sharing of information from the blogger's perspective and this exposure and sharing of information can't help but add to our travelling enjoyment, and we hope, to yours.

I have to e-mail the author of the newly found blog and tell her how much I've enjoyed reading about their experiences. I know how much we enjoy hearing comments and answering questions from our blog readers; it's the dessert of blogging.

Hey m00ners,
Terrific blogness. Nice way to keep in touch with everyone. I can't wait to follow your journey since we have a similar plan for winters. Mazatalon was nice but spread out. Lots of boondocking room though from what I observed. I can share another time but several roads ended at the beach and looked like great sleep spots. Mexico is getting expensive though and I think we are 10 years too late. Still good deals to be had but you have to work at it more. Home depots, walmarts and other chains are making their Mexican life look like any other country and can we blame them? No, since we all seem to enjoy our stuff. We are serious about going to Australia one winter and maybe NZ the next. A person can buy a camper van in the north, use it a season and sell it in the south for the same $ with all the equipment. Sounds like quite the circut. We may have to pioneer it since we have some people there. But it is summer there, not south for the winter, so it is hot as hell sometimes. May have to think about that since Mexico in winter seems perfect for this fat boy's temp.
keep up the blogging cause I love being part of your lives. You folks are good people and share so many of the same things we love. oh yeah, the vitz is fantastic this year and the flavors I have made taste outstanding. More on that another time. See you soon I hope. Deadeye
