More About This Website

This blog follows our travels to and throughout Mexico. We finished our final school year in June, 2007 and retired.   July through October we lived in our Bigfoot Camper or on our Capri 26 sailboat full mOOn on Camanche Lake. We departed Northern California on November 7th, 2007 after the much anticipated wedding of our son, Micah and his fabulous lady, Kim.  Ken, Kris, and Duffie, the Wonder Westie, have travelled extensively in our Bigfoot Camper which is equipped with satellite internet which allows us to maintain this blog on a regular (or semi-regular) basis.  Bookmark this site and share in our adventure.

Back to school

by Kris

Two weeks of holiday (can't say Christmas in the presence of school talk) zipped by no matter how hard we tried to prolong it. A sampling of free times to come after June 8, 2007. Sweet. We worked a lot over the break but the difference in doing even tedious jobs on your own time as opposed to time at Work is vast and, from what society wants us to know, extremely under-rated. We're the kind of people who will always have projects and, I hesitate to use the word, hobbies to keep us interested and interesting. Life, by our definition, is a balance of work and fun; we've practiced and think we have it down. There is much to learn about the process of being retired from our experiences as they occur and those of our friends/family advisors who paved the way.  A recently retired teacher told us she was exhausted the first week of school, her first non-teaching week in 30 Septembers. She slept like she'd been deprived of zzzz's for years. When she felt rested she experienced renewed energy and she's been a dynamo since.

Retirement sounds like the promised land three days into our first week back.
